Well, I have an hint for you about the band. They have released their full length album last year and it became Top 1 on Billboard Top Heatseekers. Vocalist of the Day: Spencer Sotelo
Spencer Sotelo |
I never knew Periphery at all until they headlined the annual biggest rock festival in the Philippines, the Pulp Summer Slam XII: The Apostles, alongside of biggest metal acts of today like Blessthefall, Archenemy, Darkest Hours, Agust Burns Red, and We Came As Romans.
I was first hook up with their song "Jetpacks Was Yes" from their debut album, Periphery. I heard a little from Blessthefall, Archenemy, Darkest Hours and August Burns Red but WCAR and Periphery were total strangers for me. I researched them and luckily they've got my taste. This time I fully embraced the loveliness of metal music. As I continued research them on net, they were labeled with this "djent" term so I became curious about it. Wikipedia says, " The word "djent" is an onomatopoeia for the distinctive high-gain, distorted palm-muted guitar sound." Thanks for the cyberworld and Pulp magazine (Periphery on the cover), I understand their kind of music.
In this song, you can hear Spencer's versality of his voice. He can sing high tunes, then lowered it then growls really hard. His voice is flawless. You can't imagine such a sweet voice from a progressive metal band. He sings like heaven and screams like hell. For me, he can be aligned with famous metal vocalists like Corey Taylor (Slipknot/Stone Sour), Matt Tuck (Bullet For My Valentine), Chino Moreno (Deftones) etc.
Its not only the vocals that he done in their new album Periphery II: This Time, It's Personal. I was amaze that he done melodies of their song "Facepalm Mute". What a talented person!!! Below is a statement coming Misha Mansoor from their facebook account about Facepalm Mute track:
Facepalm Mute:
This song is very interesting in that it is pretty much Spencer's baby. A few years back he showed a song he had demoed instrumentally with him playing guitar/bass and having programmed the drum ideas, and we all were taken aback, because we knew he was a creative force when it came to vocals but we didn't realize that he was or could even write for the other instruments. I worked with him on the song in the way that I work with the bands that I produce, and helped trim the fat, got the arrangement flowing nicely, reworked some riffs and added some layers, and that demo is what the album version is based off of. Strangely enough he had never shown us the lyrics/vocal ideas for this song, but he had told me that he had some good ideas, and that he was really happy with his ideas for the chorus. I feel like this song is somehow very Periphery, and yet something I never would have been able to write myself, and it is a good example of how tight the writing chemistry is in this band. Since this song was demoed right when we started preproduction work on the album, we decided to play it live on some tours, and it is one of the few songs on this album that we actually jammed in a room before recording the final version and settling on the parts. In the future, time permitting, I think we would want to be able to do that with every song, just to see how it feels to play it as a band. I do, however, think this song has something very special because of that advantage. - Misha
Here's a videos of Periphery: Jetpacks Was Yes! and Scarlet, my top favorite songs. Enjoy!

The Music of My Earphones part 4
46. Gracenote - Several gigs and a few months later, Gracenote once again joined another competition, the DZUP: College Collision Year 2. This was an annual fundraiser event held by DZUP that was held at Tiendesitas last March 15, 2009. They won first place.
48. Hey Monday - On December 16, vocalist Cassadee Pope and guitarist Mike Gentile announced the band is currently on hiatus via their personal profiles on the social networking sites Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. Pope also announced that she will be embarking on a solo acoustic tour of the United States in January and February 2012 in hopes of jumpstarting her solo career.
49. Imago - Imago is a Filipino pop rock band composed of Aia De Leon (vocals/guitars), Myrene "Maps" Academia (bass), Tim Cacho (guitars) and Zach Lucero (drums) known for songs such as Akap, Anino, Ewan, Taralets and Sundo.
50. In This Moment - They have performed on several notable tours and festivals including Ozzfest in 2007 and 2008, Warped Tour in 2009, Download Festival in 2009, Mayhem Festival in 2010 and the Music as a Weapon V tour in 2011.
51. Ivoryline - The name Ivoryline was derived from a Death Cab For Cutie song "Lightness".
52. Killswitch Engage - On June 20, a new single titled "This is Confrontation" was leaked on Youtube, but the users faced copyright strikes and the videos were soon deleted. A week and a half later the band announced their new album will be called Disarm the Descent.
53. Kittie - Kittie was formed in 1996, when drummer Mercedes Lander and guitarist Fallon Bowman met in an extracurricular gymnastics class.
55. Krystal Meyers - Krystal has received four Dove Award nominations: two at the 37th GMA Dove Awards (New Artist of the Year and Special Event Album), one for the 38th GMA Dove Awards (Female Vocalist of the Year) and one for the 39th GMA Dove Awards for Female Vocalist of the Year."

The album's first single, "Carry Me to the Cross", is currently on the Billboard Christian Songs chart
57. Lacuna Coil - Inspired by the combination of gothic imagery and music, the members have been known, musically, for composing midtempo songs consisting of prominent guitar lines and contrasting dual female/male vocal harmonies to help create a melodic, detached sound. Much of the band's recent material, however, sees a heavier and more down-tuned style, featuring a more distinct bass line and a higher mixing of the guitars within the songs.
58. Lauren Harris - She is the daughter of Iron Maiden bassist and founder Steve Harris. She was discovered in a pub by Russ Ballard, who was unaware of who she was.
59. Lexia Rodriguez - Vocalist and guitarist of the post-hardcore/metalcore band Eyes Set To Kill had released her solo album Underground Sounds. The album is different from her band because it is pop. The album consists of new original pop, acoustic, and electronica songs as well as covers from her band (done acoustically) and a Radiohead cover.
60. Lifehouse - The band came to mainstream prominence in 2001 with the hit single "Hanging by a Moment" from their debut studio album, No Name Face. They have released three more albums: the self-titled Lifehouse in 2005, Who We Are on June 19, 2007 and Smoke & Mirrors on March 2, 2010. These albums have spawned the singles "You and Me", "First Time", and "Whatever It Takes", which have all been top 40 hits in the US. They have sold upwards of fifteen million singles and albums worldwide to date.

My TV Addiction
1. PRETTY LITTLE LIARS
This is the first American TV show that I ever love. Each characters lie and all of them have secrets. Its a challenge for the viewers to know who is telling the truth. Every episode has a twist and its the reason why I keep watching it. I also have fun in guessing who really "A" is. Its like in every episode you will have different "A" suspects and its one thing that catches so much of my attention. For now it has 2 seasons and I'm hoping that they will extend the show for more seasons.
Sasha Pieterse as Alison DiLaurentis
Lucy Hale as Aria Montgomery
Ashley Benson as Hannah Marin
Shay Mitchell as Emily Fields
Troian Bellisario as Spencer Hastings
2. NIKITA
When the mid-season finale of PLL has ended, I try to find another TV show to watch and its Nikita. I'am a type of person who love suspense thriller shows and this show is an action-packed thing. I really love the fighting scenes and its nice to watch that these ladies can beat big guys. I'm also amazed of each episodes production because its look like there are filming a movie. Every episode has a twist to watch and the Mikita loveteam is undeniably awesome. I am looking forward for the opening of season 2 of this show and a lot of changes had done. GAMES CHANGE!!!
Maggie Q as Nikita
Lyndsy Fonseca as Alexandra "Alex" Udinov
Shane West as Michael
Melinda Clarke as Amanda
Xander Berkeley as Percy
Aaron Standford as Seymour Birkhoff
3. THE LYING GAME
There was a news about that there is a new series on ABC family that based on the novels of Sara Shepard (also the author of PLL). I am excited about this series because its all about two identical twins which are switched life to find their birth mother. What is really exciting here is that Ted and Alec are very creepy in this show and they know about Annie Hobbs which is the birth mother of the twins. They are hiding Annie from them and I think that there is a lot of secrets to be revealed here. I am guessing that it could be Ted or Alec is their biological father. I am also wondering why Justin have a photo of Mercer family. Is he had a connection with them? And it is nice to watch on how the twins take their life in the wrong position. I mean Emma is pretending to be Sutton and vice versa. I can't wait for the second half of this season and I assure that there will be a lot of revelations here.
Alexandra Chando as Emma Becker and Sutton Mercer
Allie Gonino as Laurel Mercer
Blair Redford as Ethan Whitehorse
Andy Buckley as Ted Mercer
Helen Slater as Kristin Mercer
Kirsten Prout as Charlotte "Char" Chamberlin
Alice Greczyn as Madeline 'Mads' Rybak
Sharon Pierre-Louis as Nisha Randall
Adrian Pasdar as Alec Rybak
4. THE SECRET CIRCLE
After this past few months, I am watching mystery and action drama shows and this show caught my attention because it is very different from what I am loving right now. This fantasy-drama show is very addictive to watch not only with the actors that perfectly fitted for the characters, but the storyline. They all have magic powers, in short they are witches and if you have imaginative mind this show is perfect for you. Viewers will also love the Cassie-Adam-Diana love triangle and Melissa and Nick love team, but now its look like Faye is rooting for her ex Jake (brother of Nick) to win him back. It was so disappointing that Nick died in this show and honestly, he is one of the reasons why I watch this show. I think I need to watch more episodes because it is very exciting to know what will happens next and there are new faces in the show which adds more twists in the series. This is a perfect TV show if you love Pretty Little Liars and Vampire Diaries (no more vamps and wolves please).
Britt Robertson as Cassie Blake
Thomas Dekker as Adam Conant
Gale Harold as Charles Meade
Phoebe Tonkin as Faye Chamberlain
Shelley Hennig as Diana Meade
Jessica Parker Kennedy as Melissa Glaser
Ashley Crow as Jane Blake
Nick Armstrong, portrayed by Louis Hunter
Natasha Henstridge as Dawn Chamberlain
